ABOUT US
The Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce was established in 1988. It was founded by a group of like-minded Irish and Australian individuals who saw that while many cultural and social groups had formed within the Melbourne Irish community, a business organisation was essential for its continued growth and prosperity.
The Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce offers an opportunity for people to meet and do business as a result of relationship building. It is the premier organization in southeast Australia established by business and professional people to expand their mutual professional and business relationships in Australia and between Ireland and Australia. The common bond between members is their kinship to Ireland, through heritage, professional or business associations.
As a not-for-profit organization, the Chamber relies on funds generated through annual membership subscriptions, major sponsorships, support sponsorships and event sponsorships. These funds are used for the promotion of Chamber events, valuable member services and charitable causes; this year, the Chamber is supporting the Australian Irish Welfare Bureau in Melbourne and also supported and raised funds for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
A volunteer Board of Directors and a full-time Business Manager oversee the operation of the Chamber on a day-to-day level and also in strategic planning for the future, including expansion into other states.
If you are based in another state and interested in assisting with the development of an interstate chapter of the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce, please contact the office on info@irlaust.com.
